Access Policy
Computer rules
1. To use the computers, patrons must have a Seymour Library card and
sign in using the automated system. Patrons may not sign in for another
person, and they must use their own library card.
2. Computers in the adult area are for those age 13 and above. Computers
in the children’s room are for those age 12 and under. Parents or legal
guardians of those under age 18 must sign an Internet permission form
before computers can be used.
3. Computers will automatically shut down five minutes before the
library closes. It is the responsibility of patrons to complete work and
save any documents before the session ends, since the computer will not
save any work. Work can be saved as an e-mail attachment or on a flash
drive that the patron brings to the library.
4. Computers may be unavailable when library staff conducts training
sessions or tours, and when computers are being serviced.
5. Nonresident, temporary guests are provided with computer privileges.
Minors under the age of 18 who are guests must acquire parental
permission via the temporary guest card application in order to gain
access.
6. Patrons are allowed to use computers up to 180 minutes per day to be
taken in as many sessions as desired. Each session is 60 minutes in
length if others are waiting.
7. Patrons must not abuse or rearrange library furniture, computer
equipment, or computer supplies. Patrons must wear headphones if they
would like to use speakers. The library does not provide headphones for
patron use.
8. Patrons must adhere to the Internet Use Policy, Computer Rules, and
Rules of Behavior for Seymour Library. Computer
usage privileges will be revoked if patrons fail to abide by any of
these rules.
Internet Use Policy
Materials accessed on the internet must comply with community decency
standards, as determined by the librarian and the library staff.
Violations of this policy will result in the revocation of internet
privileges.
